WJCC Advisory Opportunities — Deadlines August 28 and September 3
Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools is accepting applications for two different sets of advisory opportunities. Each has its own application process and deadline.
1. Superintendent’s Advisory Councils
Apply by August 28
Applications are open for three Superintendent’s Advisory Councils:
- Family Advisory Council
- Community Advisory Council
- Business Advisory Council
2. School Board Citizen Advisory Committees
Apply by September 3
Two School Board citizen advisory committees may be of particular interest to League members:
Career Ready Advisory Committee
This committee advises WJCC Schools on community employment needs and the relevance of career and technical education programs. Its membership includes representatives from business and industry, educators, parents, students, workforce organizations, community colleges, and other interested community members.

Special Education Advisory Committee
This committee works to further the education of students with disabilities through advocacy, communication, community education, and participation in general education programs. A majority of its members are parents of children with disabilities or individuals with disabilities.

Career Ready and Special Education applicants use the same online application and select the committee for which they would like to be considered. WJCC notes that an individual may serve on only one committee.
Serving on a local advisory council or committee is one way community members can contribute their experience and perspectives to local public institutions.
