What’s on the ballot

Virginia has scheduled a statewide special election on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 for voters to decide on a proposed amendment to the Virginia Constitution.

🔴Ballot Question: "Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia's standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?" (vote: YES or NO)

Polls open 6 AM to 7 PM. Anyone in line at 7 PM will be allowed to vote.

🟥 Important Dates

  • Mar 6 – April 18: Vote early in person 
  • Fri, April 14: Last day to register or update your address and still vote on a regular ballot.
  • Fri, April 10: Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot.
  • Tues, April 21: Vote on election day
